Special Olympics Ghana focuses on the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games.

By Philip Otuo,

Special Olympics Ghana (SOG) and the Three Kings School Committee held a special training at the school to address Ghana’s absence at the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games. This absence had left coaches very disappointed after the hard work they had put into preparing their athletes for the games.
The special training focused on revising and polishing the skills needed for the program to be eligible to take part in the 2015 World Summer Games. The training emphasised that in order for the program to succeed it was important that divisioning was done well; this would make it easier for the program to track progress.

The committee also focused on fundraising, marketing, promotional tie-ins, sponsor relations and the team building skills needed to build a strong program. A vote of thanks was given to the National Director Mr. Seth Asamaoh for the great work he has done in using his organisational skills to develop the program.
The committee also committed to appealing to the District Chief Executive, Members of Parliament from the North Tonga District, Parent Teacher Association of Schools, Schools Management Committees and Religious groups for moral and financial support towards the Special Olympics 2015 World Summer Games.
