According to reports, the locals have offered the Chinese individuals shelters within the community as part of a new strategy to outwit law enforcement agencies.
Joe Osei Wusu, Member of Parliament for Bekwai has described the new strategy as worrying and called on the locals to desist from such acts.
But a leading member of the small scale miners association Eric Kofi Rivers told Starr News that the locals will not report their Chinese counterparts since their activities are not illegal.
“If a foreigner has mining equipment and a small scale miner helps him, there is no law in this country which is against that…the mining law doesn’t tell anybody that if you have a [mining] equipment don’t help anybody,” Mr. Rivers said.
