A 10-year-old girl met her untimely death Tuesday morning, after she was crushed to death by an articulated truck carrying cement bags at Kpeve in the south dayi district in the Volta region.
The truck, with registration number GS 4482-Y, had a break failure, while descending the Kpeve Mountain, thereby running into some stationery vehicles before knocking down the young girl and two other persons near the Kpeve market.
The incident, brought trading activities in the market to a temporary halt, as many of the traders including the mother of the young girl, were left devastated.
ASP Jonas Agbevam, Peki district Police commander, who confirmed the incident to Starr News’ regional Correspondent Lambert Atsivor, said the injured persons have been rushed to the Peki Government hospital for treatment.
He added that his outfit has commenced investigations into the incident.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck has absconded and is being tracked by the Police.
