ALEM MUMUNI COMPASSIONATE ROAD TO RIO

By Philip Otuo
Alem Mumuni made history in 2012 by becoming the first para-cyclist from Ghana to qualify for the Paralympic Games.
The year 2016 is a very critical one for Alem Mumuni as he prepares to represent Ghana at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil as the only Paracyclist.

Besides qualification events and related activities, it has become necessary for the athlete to engage in other acts that would not only create awareness but also re-echo the objectives of the Alem Foundation, that is, care for the educational and health needs of vulnerable children, especially those with disability.

In view of this, the Foundation is considering a series of activities lined up ahead of, during and after the Paralympic Games in Rio in September.
The Project will be known as “the Compassionate Road to Rio”, and it is aimed at using the games to help raise awareness on the needs of vulnerable children in the country and to donate some items to them. By so doing Alem has presented Educational items to the Akrade Presbyterian Basic School in the Eastern Region.
