Ghanaian movie star, Yvonne Nelson has taken to
Twitter to mock the nation’s 58th Independence Day Celebrations by
wishing Ghanaians happy holiday in enduring “Dumsor,” referring to the country’s
power crisis.
“Happy Dumsor Independence Day Ghana,” the
29-year-old former Miss Ghana contestant, tweeted on Friday morning.
Ghana has been battling with erratic power
supply since May 2014 with players in the power sector, Electricity Company of
Ghana (ECG), the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCO) and the Volta River
Authority assigning several reasons to the worsening energy crisis.
President John Mahama promised Ghanaians that
the State of the Nation’s Address on February 26 that government is working at solving
the country’s power crisis by the close of 2015.
